Don’t be afraid to jump on a shitty project or job. This could be an opportunity for a fast track.
You will learn so much more than from other safe and established projects.
When you succeed
- you will get recognized
- your confidence will go up
- your sense of accomplishment is higher
Even if you fail,
- The expectation was low anyways
- Not much to lose other than you learned a lot from it
I accidentally followed this advice when I joined a project which I learned on my second day that it was failing.
In that short 4 months on the project which felt like 4 years, I learn almost 4 years worth of experiences. From the normal work, to handling difficult situations with hostile clients. I was asked to join the exclusive practice that you can only apply after a few years of experiences with the firm
I am no longer part of corporate world but this lesson still applies.
